On a beautiful faithful Sunday afternoon in December last year, after the close of church service, I received a call from a client who wanted to set up an Accounting System for his company.
Then, as I was about to put down my phone, I remembered a very close student whom I haven’t seen since 2019 and my mind was on him for over 8 days.
I searched for his number on WhatsApp and then sent him a message. It was delivered but he did not respond. Then, I called his number directly. After he picked up the call, I introduced myself and he was excited to hear from me. He also commented on the post he has been receiving from me on a daily basis.
After we exchanged pleasantries, I asked him why he did not invite me to his induction. He exclaimed and said that he was yet to qualify because of several office and family commitments.
Sincerely, I understand what he was talking about, especially in this current economy. However, this is what I told him that changed his mind and aroused the desire to complete his ICAN qualification.
I told him that several people have been in his shoes and have unfinished goals and aspirations. But after they’ve grown old, they found out that they were back to where they started. They wished to correct it again but the time was no longer available.
It will get to a particular time when you will need the qualification to move to the next level and start climbing up the ladder of success. Or, is it when you lose your job (God forbid) and put your family at very high risk that you’ll realise its value?
In addition, the family expenses will never go down. It will increase at a geometrical rate once your kids start growing and progressing from one class to another. We have not talked about inflation. By then, the job will not be fulfilling again. A word is enough for the wise…
He thanked me and decided to start the exams which he abandoned for over 6 years.
Due to his busy schedule, and time issues, he got his PM and PSAF Simplified and Comprehensive videos delivered to him the following day. He immediately begins preparing for his ICAN Exams because his tight schedule will not permit him to start late.
Frankly, I will be on his neck until he qualifies.
