How Best To Organize Your Day Badly…

Timothy Here Again,
As the day goes by, your ICAN Exam is getting closer and closer. I am so sure that you are doing everything in your power to ensure that you study and pass your exams.
Unfortunately, some students are still finding it difficult to get started because of some habits they start their day with. These habits include:
#1. Spending the first hours of the morning texting friends and checking social media: For some students, this is not just a habit they indulge in on certain days of the week; it’s something they do all week long. From asking questions to “Good mornin peeps”. “How are you doing today?” “Did you watch BBNaija Eviction show last night?” “Oh, that Erico sha…kissing everybody” etc.
The invitation to ponder and continue the conversation seems enticing. So enticing that an entire hour can go into messaging back and forth, especially when it’s combined with sending links to Instagram or Twitter posts you want to share with “other peeps”.
I am not saying that sharing funny cat videos or what’s in the latest news is a bad thing. It’s just that those first hours of the day are better suited for something more important, something that will advance your life, such as studying or checking what you have studied last night.
#2. Organizing your workday around your inbox: This habit is even more challenging because, for most of us that work on computers for a living (or in industry-speak, the knowledge workers), most tasks are delegated and monitored via our inbox.
It’s no surprise that the first activity of the workday for most people is to check what’s in it, so we know how to organize the day. The biggest problem with this habit? You put yourself in reactive mode because you respond to requests other people make, instead of prioritizing your activities and your life.
#3. Procrastinating about the big things: That sounds counter-intuitive, doesn’t it? Because if there’s anything we should be devoting our energy to, it’s the big things that matter to us. How to reach a big goal, how to overcome a personal challenge, and how to improve our personal relationships with the people closest to us.
But what ends up happening is you are so busy with your daily life that you push all the big stuff aside and leave it for later, with the excuse of, I can’t think about this right now! It’s too complicated and stressful! It is not the most ideal way to live a high-quality life.
So, if you are cultivating such a habit, it will quite be difficult for you to concentrate and study for your ICAN Exams. As you know that in most circumstances, life is predictable.
Then, you end up postponing your exams or adopting a fire brigade method of study, which is not really a good method of preparing for the exams.
